At Bantani Cymru, we are passionate about celebrating local history, culture, and community. As part of our work with schools on the Cynefin theme to support the rollout of the Curriculum for Wales, we are excited to launch a project that brings local stories to life.
Our focus is on sharing and celebrating the story of Evan Roberts and the religious revival, offering a unique opportunity for the community to come together and explore this important chapter of local history. Hosted at St. Catherine’s Church in Gorseinon, the event will be a community history lesson, and will feature traditional songs, shared knowledge, and a celebration of the life of Evan Roberts and Pisga Chapel.
Following the event, we will compile pupil contributions into a book, creating a lasting resource for schools and local libraries.

Key aims
Celebrating Local History: We aim to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation of local history by sharing the story of Evan Roberts and the religious revival, fostering a connection between schools and the community.
Strengthening Community Bonds: Through collaborative efforts, we seek to bring together schools, community groups, and local residents, creating a shared space to learn, reflect, and celebrate cultural traditions.
Creating Lasting Educational Resources: By compiling pupil work into a book, we aim to preserve the learning and insights from this project, ensuring it serves as a lasting resource for schools, libraries, and the broader community.
What we hope to achieve
Community Engagement and Pride: Inspire learners and community members to take ownership of their local history by exploring the life of Evan Roberts, Pisga Chapel, and their significance to the area.
Cultural Preservation and Celebration: Celebrate traditional songs and stories that highlight the unique cultural heritage of the community, ensuring they are passed down to future generations.
Educational and Economic Benefits: Enhance local cohesion and boost the economy by attracting visitors to the area and supporting local businesses through increased footfall.
Sustained Impact: Provide a platform for continued collaboration among schools and community members, supported by the book as a resource for further education and engagement.
